Benjamin Abel and Friends, a professional instrumental chamber group will perform liturgical music at Concerts on the Corner Sunday June 1 at 4:00. This will be a unique performance of music relating to four post-resurrection events in the early Christian church: Ascension, Pentecost, the martyrdom of Stephen and the conversion of Paul. The program includes pieces by Cecil Burleigh, J. S. Bach, Heinrich Biber, and Joseph Suk.
Abel, a violinist and teacher in the Indianapolis area, holds music degrees from Butler University and the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music. He is currently completing his doctorate at the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music. Abel appeared last year with the Abel Family Quartet at Concerts on the Corner and we are excited to have him back with this group performing such a creative classical program of this quality, free in Crawfordsville!
