Trinity Sunday

June 7, 2020
Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church in Crawfordsville, Indiana invites you to join us for our virtual worship service on Trinity Sunday, June 7, 2020. The Scripture Reading is Matthew 14:1-12. Rev. John Van Nuys' sermon is "George Floyd, Jesus Christ, and You." Jennie Fights Swick sings, "Holy, Holy, Holy". Alan White plays the organ for the Prelude and the Postlude.

We offer these prayers in this difficult time:

For our troubled nation.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Help us to repent of those things which prevent peace.
Help us to renounce those things which keep things good for “us” and worse for “them.”
Guide all in positions of authority, especially our President Donald, Governor Eric, and Mayor Todd,
To lead us in ways that racial wounds may heal.
Hold to account all who propagate hate; savor prejudice; and inflict pain.
Uphold all who have suffered unjustly and for all who grieve that injustice.
May the violence of the protests stop.
May the message of the protests continue
Until your justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.
May your love be our guide and goal now and always.

For our world in the midst of plague.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Protect all medical care professionals, nursing home aids, and emergency personnel
That everyone who is helping you confront the coronavirus is kept safe.
Guide researchers working on a vaccine and speed the day when COVID-19 is no more.
Pour out your healing upon all who have the coronavirus that they may live.
Grant your healing to all who seek your healing.
Among those known to us, O God, we pray for Bill, John, Judy, Linda, Marty, and Roger.
Send your healing Spirit upon those who are sick in body or mind,
restore them to health,
and restore to them the joy of your salvation.

In reading this, your heart may be stirred. What you’re feeling is the Holy Spirit drawing you to Christ. To begin or renew a relationship with Jesus, just pray:

“Lord, help me receive your love. I regret the wrong I’ve done. Forgive me. Jesus, I believe you are God’s Son and the Savior of the world. Be my Savior. Save me from myself. Save me for yourself. Enter my heart. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Help me to serve you faithfully and well. Help me to love as you love. Lead me in your Way, Truth, and Life now and forever. Continue to show me who you are and who I am in you. Amen.”

If you pray this prayer, contact a pastor. They’ll show you how to live for Christ with purpose, peace, and joy. Jesus says: “Behold, I make all things new.” That definitely includes YOU!
